The new standard of inverter air conditioner was formally implemented in October

The 6th China Air-Conditioning Industry Conference held recently and the China Air-Conditioning Technology Innovation Product Launch were recently announced. The new standard for variable-frequency air conditioners (GB21455) was promulgated on June 1 and will be formally implemented in October.

The new standard will increase the energy efficiency limit value of inverter air conditioners from the current 3.0 to 3.9, that is, the current level 1 and 2 energy efficiency air conditioning levels will be automatically reduced by 1 level, respectively into 2 and 3 levels, while adding a level 1 energy efficiency rating . The new standard will also upgrade the market access threshold from 5 to 3.

At present, the air-conditioning energy efficiency rating on the Chinese market is divided into 1-5 grades. In September 2008, the first energy efficiency standard for inverter air conditioners was issued, and the five-level product was the lowest energy efficiency grade. With the implementation of the new standard in June, the energy efficiency air conditioners at levels 3, 4 and 5 on the market will be completely eliminated.

In addition, Qi Yun, deputy chief engineer of China Household Electrical Appliances Testing Institute, revealed at the meeting that the new standard for the first time proposed that the power of inverter air conditioners should not exceed 3W; the product design requires heating energy efficiency and heating capacity.

According to Tencent Technology, the five-stage inverter air conditioner products have already been eliminated. All air-conditioning companies have stopped producing grade 3 to 5 energy-efficient air-conditioning products and need to thoroughly clean their inventory by October.

After the implementation of the new standard, 30% of inverter air conditioners will be eliminated.

According to data from Yikang, in the first quarter, air-conditioning retail sales and retail sales increased by 17.1% and 21.44% respectively. As air-conditioners were driven by the policy of energy-saving and people-friendly policies in the past few years, the market share of air-conditioning energy-efficient products continued to increase. As of April this year, the market share of retail sales of air-conditioning energy-saving products has increased from 15.62% in June last year to 65.69%. “But with the end of the energy-saving policy on June 1st, real estate will enter the wait-and-see period. In the second half of 2013, the air-conditioning market will enter an in-depth adjustment period, and the third quarter will probably fall back to the bottom.” said Peng Yi, vice president of Sino-Icoon.
