In order to hold Apple's thigh, LG built a new OLED factory

In December last year, there were reports that Apple’s screen supplier, LG, will invest US$8.5 billion to build new OLED factories in the next two years. According to the Nikkei Asian Review, Apple plans to release an iPhone with an OLED screen in 2017, but it is very likely that the supply and yield issues will be delayed until 2018.

South Korean media today pointed out that LG’s new OLED factory will begin operations in June 2018 and will be able to respond to Apple’s increasing demand for OLED screen orders. The report also pointed out that LG, the world's top screen panel maker, has formally appealed to its rival Samsung to join the competition in the large-size OLED screen panel industry.

According to the person in charge of LG Display, the newly built factory will be the world's largest OLED factory and will provide top-level customers with small-sized and large-sized OLED panels. It is well known that Apple intends to adopt OLED screens for future iPhones, while LG and Samsung will be Apple's major screen suppliers. It seems that another battle for Apple orders has already begun.

Apple's order battle has already begun, and driven by Apple's demand, we believe OLED's progress will be even more pronounced!
