There are generally three types of LED lamp bead connection methods:
The first is all in series (Figure 1);
The second is a part of the series, and then the head and tail of each string are connected in parallel (Figure 2);
The third type is connected in parallel and then connected in series (Figure 3).
The first method is the simplest. The advantage is that the current of each lamp is the same. The disadvantage is that when a lamp is broken, the whole string does not light up, and the number of series is limited by the input voltage.
The advantage of the second method is that the number of lamp beads can be independent of the input voltage, and many strings can be connected in parallel. The disadvantage is that because the Vf of each lamp bead is different, each string of currents is different, and one of the strings may be too large to be easily burned, and then Burning other string lights.
The third method is actually similar to the second one. The only advantage is that when a lamp bead burns, it only affects the current of several lamp beads connected in parallel with it. Other lamps are still good, and the whole lamp is still bright.
Figure 4 is another problem to be discussed. Compared with Figure 2, the difference is that Figure 2 has only one resistor, and Figure 4 has one resistor per string. The effect is that the current through each string of beads is the same, which means that the brightness of each string is the same.
