Microsoft today introduced a fast version of the Windows 10 system update for PCs and mobile platforms. The PC version number is Build 15048. Build 15048 also brought us a big surprise in addition to fixing the known bugs. If you are a member of the Windows 10 Insider Program, you can now launch the Mixed Reality Portal on the PC side to get a mixed reality experience (even without the Acer development MR header).
But if you are not a member of the Windows 10 Insider Program, you can sign up for free as a Windows Preview member and have your computer added to the Windows Preview Experience. The computer will then automatically enter the Release Preview ring (with Fast ring or Slow ring option). Select Fast ring to get the update. A detailed tutorial is available here.
When your computer has Build 15048 update or later installed, just start Microsoft Mina Cortana and search for "Mixed Reality Portal" to start the experience.
Then the system pushes some user notices. After you click on the agreement, you will receive an inspection report telling you if your personal computer configuration can run Windows Mixed Reality.
If you have a development heading, you can click Next to set it. If not, click the link for "Analog Settings (For Developers)" in the lower left corner. Then you find yourself starting to enter a virtual workspace where you can explore using similar game controls. For example, the WASD key allows you to move forward and backward, and the arrow keys (or hold down the left mouse button) let you look around. Right-click on the simulated tap action and press the shift key to move quickly. Although various controllers can be connected, tests are required to know specific compatible devices.
Currently you can launch any 2D class Windows 10 application on your desktop, but you cannot install any new mixed reality applications yet.
