At the recent CES 2017 exhibition, a company named HoloLamp Ventures showed its virtual reality projector system to the outside world. Its biggest highlight is that it can interact with real objects without the help of smart glasses or smartphones.
The visual experience brought to us by the HoloLamp projector is similar to the chess game we played with Chewbacca and the robot R2-D2 in the movie Star Wars. HoloLamp brings animated graphics to the real world through projectors, video cameras and Unity game software.
HoloLamp was founded last year and they expect their virtual reality projectors to be used in games, product marketing, education, and even office space.
We all know that virtual reality head-mounted devices tend to limit the user's visual range, and that wearing it for a long time causes a sense of discomfort, and the HoloLamp projector system has abandoned dependence on external devices.
HoloLamp showed a demonstration video to the outside world. From the video point of view, two bunkers can launch virtual "cannonballs" to each other. When moving one of the bunkers, the cannonball attack also automatically changes direction.
HoloLamp said that the props they currently use can be controlled via the Sony PlayStation 4 game console remote control. In the future, the company hopes that users can control objects directly on the projection screen.
The HoloLamp projector is expected to ship in the first quarter of this year and will provide users with an animated chess and card game props similar to Star Wars. The company said that the projector needs a computer support that supports HDMI and Windows 10 or Mac OS.
