Philips LED new product A21 will be listed in December

Although LED lighting has improved greatly in the past few years, it still lacks a very typical replacement bulb. Home Depot, like some large supermarkets abroad, has many LED bulbs that replace 40W or 60W incandescent lamps, but 75 to 100W LED bulbs are rare. Earlier this year, we heard that GE, Osram, and Philips will withdraw an LED bulb equivalent to 100W (1600 lumens), but we have not seen the product launch. Recently, Philips has confirmed that their 100W LED replacement lamp A21 will be available in December. The Philips A21 LED bulb consumes only 22W, outputs 1780 lumens in warm white light (2700K), is rated for 25,000 hours of life, and has a dimming color rendering index of 80.

Philips A21 new LED bulb

"A21" refers to the shape and size: in line with the A standard, Philips' A19 refers to a household light bulb with a diameter of 2.375 inches, and A21 refers to 2.625 inches. The A21 is taller than a general Philips LED bulb, about 5 inches (including the socket). Philips LED bulbs of 17W and 1100 lumens (equivalent to 75W) also use the A21 size.

Philips L Prize winner compared with A21 LED bulb

Although the difference between A19 and A21 is negligible for some consumers, the increased size and surface area can help Philips solve the annoying heat dissipation problem when trying to increase the light output. Some other manufacturers, especially those who are going to introduce 100W replacement lamps and are experiencing huge pain, may call it cheating, but it does help speed up the release of higher lumen bulbs.

Osram Sylvania's upcoming 1600 lumen LED bulb model is also A21, and GE will use NuvenTIx's SynJet active cooling. The Switch100 bulb will also be launched soon (date not yet announced), and will use the company's standard design, designed for liquid cooling. In other words, every manufacturer has to take some unconventional measures that have reached 1600 lumens.

Although A21 with 81 lumens per watt is less efficient than Philips' L Prize winner A19, it has also reached a leading position. The general standard is 12.5W mode produces 800 lumens, 64 lumens / watt, priced at about 20 US dollars. Philips predicts that A21 LED can save energy users about 214 US dollars, A21 expected price of about 65 US dollars, will be shipped in December.

Philips DimTone BR30 LED Directional Bulb

During the same period, Philips also introduced the DimTone BR30 LED directional bulb, which is often used as a spotlight. The BR30 uses Philips Airflux technology to optimize cooling and reduce prices without using finned heat sinks. In addition, a major selling point of DimTone BR30 is that it can be dimmed, from 2700K to 2200K, creating an incandescent lamp effect with a warm tone close to dark gray, and it can be dimmed from full lighting effect to less than 5%. This point will be closed directly. DimTone BR30 is scheduled to be launched in late November at an unknown price.
