India sells the world's first Intel chip smart machine for sale 2430 yuan

India sells the world's first Intel chip smart machine for 2430 yuan And information technology news Beijing time on April 19, Indian mobile device manufacturer Lava International this week will launch the first use of Intel's Medfield chip smartphone Xolo X900. Intel CEO Paul Otellini also said on Tuesday that the first Intel smartphones will be shipped later this week.

Xolo X900 uses Android 2.3 system, upgradeable to 4.0 systems, 1.6GHz Z2460 processor, 4-inch 1024×600 LCD touch screen, 8 million-pixel camera, priced at 20,000 Indian rupees, approximately RMB 2430.

According to Intel, the Z2460 chip can support up to 8 hours of 3G voice calls, 6 hours of HD video playback, or 5 hours of 3G browsing. The standby time is 14 hours.

Lava International and Intel first demonstrated the Xolo X900 smartphone at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress (MWC) in late February this year. The product uses the Android system, but the version is unknown, equipped with dual cameras, high-definition video playback and NFC (Near Field Communication) chips. It is not yet clear what the retail price of this smart phone is.

Intel will also collaborate with Lenovo, Motorola Mobile and Orange to develop smart phones. Lenovo's K900 smartphone with built-in Medfield chip will be released next week, and Orange may also launch a cell phone equipped with Intel chips in June.

Intel has been struggling in the smart phone market for many years, and the Xolo X900 is a major breakthrough for the company. In 2010, Intel teamed up with LG to display a smart phone equipped with an Atom chip code-named Moorestown, but it has not been officially launched.

Intel's main business is to develop high-performance processors for PCs and servers, but in recent years it has also begun to develop low-power tablet computers and smart phones. However, the market is currently dominated by ARM.

Otellini said on Tuesday’s earnings conference call that Intel will compete with ARM in the smart phone market. He admits that it takes time to build something, but the smart phone market is large enough to provide Intel with a place.

The top smartphone market, including Apple and Samsung, uses the ARM architecture. Otellini said that the company has been in continuous negotiations with the two companies. Although he did not disclose details, both Apple and Samsung use Intel processors in their PCs.

"The release of smartphones marks Intel's progress," said Dean McCarron, chief analyst of Mercury Research, an American market research company. However, it is still impossible to judge whether Intel can surpass ARM and the energy efficiency of both.

"The ARM obviously has many years of first-mover advantage. Maybe it will change overnight? Of course not," McCarran said. He believes that this is only Intel's first products, but with the company's faster, more energy-efficient processor, the competition will be more intense.
