Blu-ray disc player price approaching DVD industry is coming soon

Zhao Guizhi, chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association’s China Promotion Group, recently told this reporter that in the global market, the popularity of Blu-ray in the home is getting higher and higher. Last year, sales of Blu-ray TV and movie discs in the United States increased by more than 5% year-on-year, including Blu-ray Disc. Sales increased by 58% year-on-year.

In the Chinese market, the prices of Blu-ray disc players and Blu-ray discs have continued to fall, and they have approached DVD prices. Industry forecasts, with the surge of 3D wave, 2012 may become the Blu-ray market year.

According to Zhao Guizhi, in the U.S. market, the number of home users who used Blu-ray products last year also increased by 52% year-on-year. In the Japanese market, the annual growth rate of Blu-ray has reached more than 100%. In particular, BD recorders have accounted for 91.4% of the total CD players. According to the latest forecast of the Japan Recording Industry Association, the demand for Blu-ray discs in the world will increase nearly threefold in three years.

However, although Blu-ray products have entered the Chinese market for some time, the market is far less popular than overseas. Huang Yilin, general manager of marketing department of Jieke Electronics Co., Ltd., told reporters that he visited the market and found that in the home appliance chain store, the same price of the DVD player sold the Blu-ray Disc player. "The reason is that the popularity is not enough, the market recognizes. Knowledge is not enough. Many consumers and even promoters do not know the advantages of Blu-ray."

The industry is fully prepared for the outbreak. The reporter learned that as of now, the Blu-ray industry has more than 20 brands, nearly 80 Blu-ray products, and more than 500 Blu-ray discs, and it has achieved simultaneous DVD distribution, and the sale of 2D Blu-ray players as low as 600 yuan. The price is also basically synchronized with the DVD price, and the price of the 3D Blu-ray player will also fall below 1,000 yuan.
