Market research firm iSuppli estimates that global shipments of small-to-medium size panels will reach 2.3 billion this year, an increase of 28.1% from last year, which is the largest increase since 2007.

Due to the strong demand for small and medium sized panels, the panel makers were encouraged to shift their production capacity into small and medium-sized panels. Taiwan AUO and Chi Meidian have gradually introduced medium and small-sized high-end panel technologies.
