FCI , a leading manufacturer of connectors and interconnect systems, today announced the availability of the 25Gb /s XCede vertical backplane plug and right-angle daughter card socket. In a vertical backplane plug configuration, each signal connector module is provided with four, six or eight columns, each with two, four or six differential signal pairs. The vertical plug series also includes a choice of double, triple or four-sided retaining walls. The three-sided retaining wall configuration includes an integrated guide post and polarized keyholes.
FCI is the second supplier of Amphenol's license and Amphenol allows FCI to manufacture, market and sell all XCede products and add-on products.

The XCede Connector Platform provides a long-term, clear evolution path for customers who are designing device platforms, and the device platform needs to be updated to achieve higher signal transmission speeds and higher performance levels in the coming years. The use of advanced engineered polymers in the resonant damping shield eliminates crosstalk resonance and has extremely low crosstalk over a wide frequency range.
The XCede connector also meets the higher linear signal density requirements at the backplane or midplane interface. For each pair of 6 pairs of differential connectors, a minimum of 36 mm of card slot spacing is provided, providing 82.4 differential signal pairs per inch. For each pair of 4 pairs of differential connectors, a minimum of 25 mm of card slot spacing is provided, providing 54.9 signal pairs per inch. For each pair of 2 pairs of differential connectors, the corresponding card slot spacing is as small as 15 mm, providing 27.5 signal pairs per inch along the card edge.
The product line also includes complementary guidance modules and power modules. In addition to providing a right-angle pure signal socket module, customers can choose a custom combination that combines a right-angle signal module, a pilot module, and a power module on a single connector.
The XCede backplane plug also has the long-term reliability required by today's high-end systems. The wide floor joints in the vertical plugs have extended ribs near the top end of the joint, and their advanced features are outstanding ruggedness and signal pin protection.
