MILPITAS (Linear Technology Corporation) introduced a simple and accurate delay means LTC6994, the device is based on Linear Technology's silicon oscillator technology, the newest member TimerBloxTM family. The LTC6994 contains a delay circuit that can be easily set with 1 to 3 resistors and provides a programmable range of 1us to 33.6s. This delay period can also be controlled by a separate input voltage. The delay error is less than 2.3% and the LTC6994 is available in two versions: the LTC6994-1 and the LTC6994-2.
The LTC6994-1 will delay the rising or falling edge of the input signal (selected by the user). When the rising edge delay is selected, the output will go high with the input after the delay period and remain high until the input falls. When the falling edge delay is selected, the output will go low with the input after the delay period and remain low until the input rises. This operation is well suited for pulse definition. The LTC6994-2 delays both the rising and falling edges of the input signal. The output only responds to input changes that last longer than the delay period. The LTC6994-2 is ideal for switching anti-bounce, delay matching, and guaranteed signals to meet minimum pulse width requirements.
The LTC6994 is a member of the TimerBlox Universal Silicon Timer family of devices that combines accurate programmable oscillators with precision circuitry and logic. This family of devices does not require capacitors, crystals, microcontrollers, and settings. TimerBlox devices are solid-state devices that operate under extreme conditions of high acceleration, vibration, and temperature. These devices offer higher accuracy, stability, and lower power consumption than typical resistor/capacitor oscillators. The 20 mA supply and absorption capability allows direct drive of opto-isolators and transformers for electrical isolation. TimerBlox devices are fully specified over the -40°C to 125°C temperature range for demanding automotive and industrial environments where many oscillators and microcontrollers are not functional. The small footprint of the SOT23 package allows each timer to be placed at the point of use, eliminating the need to transmit signals over long distances, providing an ideal timer for space-constrained applications such as handheld and portable devices.
